An effective Ayurveda treatment for Joint Pain
Naranga Kizhi stands as a cornerstone treatment within Kerala Ayurveda. Drawing parallels to the refreshing effects of lemon tea, this therapy employs hot lemon boluses / poultice to alleviate joint discomfort and heal joint pain. It involves a sweating treatment utilizing poultice made of sliced lemon and other medicinal herbs.
Lemons, Saindhava lavana (Rock salt), garlic, grated coconut, and suitable oil are used in the Naranga Kizhi treatment. These ingredients are heated in a pan until infused with the oil, then poured onto a cloth to form a poultice (Kizhi).
The patient is positioned on the Pathi (Ayurvedic treatment table), and medicated oil is applied, followed by Abhyangam as a Pre-treatment. The medicated oil is warmed, and the lemon poultice is immersed in it before being gently applied to the affected area. The procedure typically spans 30-40 minutes. Post-treatment, the patient is advised to have a revitalizing warm bath.
Please inform our experienced Ayurveda therapists if the warmth of the treatment is not comfortable or if you have any allergic reaction to lemon or garlics.
